We Lost

charles69

We went stupidly about
Our little lives of sin
We dreamed of a game
With all the king's men
We took no advice
And never once weighed the cost
We never could leave
We stayed, we played
And we lost

Our fortunes were built
On cheap labor and death
We were never concerned
For each other's health
I guess we were happy
And never considered the cost
We couldn't find help
We stayed, we played
And we lost

The music we heard
Was not what what we desired
The worst kind of jobs
Were for those that we hired
The lucky got sick
While we all paid the cost
We never looked back
We stayed, we played
And we lost
