Young Love and Regret

Carew

Through time I find

My heart beats for you.

You’re a one-of-a-kind,

This will always be true.

Even though we are young,

My love is forever.

So, I shout at the top of my lungs,

“We will be together!”

I love it when you say I am wrong,

You think you’re being clever.

It’s cute when you’re headstrong,

It shows you are a believer.

I want to write you a love song,

But it would be far too long.

I know you don’t feel the same,

But I take the blame.

I hate that I failed to see

The signs you had given me.

I fear the future without you,

While you believe the future set.

I want to start our relationship new,

So, there is no regret.

You are the angel from heaven,

And I failed to see.

I did not take action.

Look what it cost me.

You are so divine,

I’m waiting for a sign.

    Good wite C.
I thought I found one of my first poems from about 30 years ago now, but I have only written fairly regularly for about 7 years now.
Then a friend sent me a poem he wrote FIFTY years ago!
