Hope

Simply Marie

If hope may be belief what may

not seem possible has its way

Then I wouldnt ever choose to

relinquish hope just for today

I would store it safely in my mind

and retrieve it periodically

To check it over and evaluate

how it resonates with me

I would ask myself key questions accessing what its worth

Does it somehow touch my soul

in a way no other thing could do

Does this thing that I still have

elicit memories that make me laugh

And how about the other emotions

is there grief that makes me sad

This thing that no one else can see

in quite the way I can

Does it still retain its value

is there a bigger picture planned

Will a future me be willed to see

even deeper layers to this thing

Is that a question for a thing expected

or hope in what may future bring

Not a thing that can be planned

with knowledge of the outcome

Only keeping certain faith in

the benefit of hard earned wisdom

That the tragedy of today

will one day serve a higher purpose

When there's seems to be no other reason it may be just the thing that serves us
