The Starry Night

pm28

Somehow it’s all about those words

That can’t be formed

When you are most desperate

To get them out;

Or perhaps your lips are fool.

The doubt

Of letting go of the cage,

And the birds have always known:

Your fear is not the bars

It’s outside

And how cold it will get

If you fly.

Why

Will we

Die

Inside

When we could ride

To the sky?

Lie awake with me

       -     this hour, a couple, three

We are tired trying to fight

We are frightened flying the flight

Around is starless

Your mind is high

And not so bright

But tell me why you chose to die

Birdy,

Before seeing the starry night?
