MaryBeth

Tayama

The forest was so dense I could not see you...

When I crossed in, air was sparse...

The light faded with each step...

I knew I was close for the coldness of my skin...

The birch tree was marked as they said it would be...

The rope swayed in the splintered light...

The bark scraped away from where you left your note...

The nail still in the tree, as a token of your false hope...

That memories of you would be hung there...

But who would come? Who would care?

There would be a trail of sadness if they did...

We both know it will just be me...

They all saw you the day before you made the choice to quit...you made sure of that...

For me, you waited until I was on the other side of the world...

Imagine that ride home knowing you left me, the world, us...

Is there every closure MaryBeth when death is unexpected and cruel?

I guess I will never know...

You've made sure my need to return will be constant...

For you always said...leave once more and you'll have to return forever...

You won Marybeth...

I always believed if I loved you hard enough, you'd see the joy of us through your pain...

Now you left me with it, so we can share it as I watch your rope swing...

What a waste Marybeth...

You never had a clue, did you?

You simply lived to be cruel...

Light seems to be getting in at the forest top...

Maybe there is hope for me to stop...

Of loving you as I have since I was 15 when you stood there in your halter top...

Light feels warm...

I'll sit a bit more...

And mourn the broken heart of a woman that took mine and made sure to tear it...

One more time before she left...

My MaryBeth
