With (You)

eckardcb

With—
To be
Accompanied by

(No one) is
Without

A companion
Here, this town is lonely
When you’re not
Around

The warm glow of homes
Is buzzing
Neon lights (everywhere)
Announcing, “we are
Open,” just not
To me.

I dread
Entering the dark
House without you. Here,
The air is stale, hard
To breathe, don’t
Even want to be.
Where you aren’t.

If only I
Could liquify myself, wet
Ink, and form
The shape of two
Simple words

Yes, then I would live
In those words: with you

Forever
