Secret

Carter M. Flynn

I woke and walked to the next room

My eyes could not comprehend what I saw

It was clear my presence was not welcomed

Calmly the command for me to leave was given

I inquired about the events before me

My question ignored

What was taking place was not for me to see

More sternly the command was repeated

Confused by her lack of shame

I eventually retreated

Sometimes I wonder if she felt rotten

Almost forty trips around the sun

Never a day goes by without at least a flash

She assumed I had forgotten.
