take a hit

ixaminata

Rhyming seems harder now than ever

Still it’s what I’d do in any weather

It’s nice in Los Angeles

But I’m feeling useless

It’s time for me to go

I have no where to go

You said I could come to you

And it would be just us two

But I don’t believe that’s true

It’s okay that I love from a distance

Finally getting over the resistance

Do you feel it breaking?

The barrier

It’s getting scarier

One day some girl will read this

And think she understands true loves kiss

She’ll think she understands the meaning of life

After reading a poem that changes her perception

Made her accept her imperfection

Face the fact that she’s ordinary

Despite evidence of the contrary

Vowels are all the same

So she’ll constantly change her name

I can’t wait till that girl feels seen

She’ll be in the same place I’ve been

What words made you feel that way?

Tell me which words to say

There’s a lot on my mind lately

I’ve been writing more faintly

And it’s tempting to decry my words as confusing

Or as bemusing

do not wish for you to hate my light

Occasionally, I feel I’m all bright

Questions swirl around the grown wood

The tree from my childhood

A story I’d love to explain

But it’s not a summer of rain

So I just hope u know you’re my soulmate

As determined by fate

I still believe in her

Won’t ask the questions yet

A deep laugh set

Nonsense and noise

I’ve lost all poise

I only want home

And you’re it

You're in my heart when I take a hit

let go of ambition

time to only embrace passion

and pretend I care about religion

traveling for vices

bathing in spices

ain’t that what we’ve determined

would work in the grand scheme of the quilt

waiting till time will wilt

death becomes the only fear to preventing

the angling

towards the best end for us, to be the greatest

though you pretend that you protest

You pretend your modest

that it’s not about getting us higher

you go on saying that

I know what's true

I'm starting to believe you may too

so give up the facade

at least for this decade

they're trying to ban pot

as if we’ll heal by getting rid of the lot

it didn’t work during the prohibition

and I love that I'm here to revive that mission

another prohibition would continue the tradition

I'm here to break what has been

don’t ever want to be a has been

only you understand

that I'm not a yes and

I'm the poem as is

so let up the pretensions

let me ease your apprehensions

there’s a movie I love

many actually

watching them never feels like enough

can't say more, contractually

it came out the same year as you

it reminds me of you

a bit messy to sit through

I’ll write many love songs

they say I should write my wrongs

so I'll be honest about my failure

the times I perjure

all I feel for you, can you hold it

in your heart when you take a hit?

forever is over

not too clever

I’m a beautiful dance

With the spirit of france

There is a house in Le Havre

They call the forest fall

It’s been the ruin of many a poor girl

And God I know I’m one

My Mother was a whore

She taught me of sex

My father raped her

Down in Le Havre

My mom was a teacher

She read poetry to me

My dad worked on sets

Down in Le Havre

Now the only thing a parent needs

is the house of the forest fall

I’m going back to Le Havre

Once and for all

when will you realize

from here to Timbuktu

Timbuktu waits for you

inspired by songs I know

preparing for the final show

I want you, you’re it

In my heart when I take a hit

all I feel for you, can you hold it

in your heart when you take a hit?

are you up for it?

we'll make a hit
