There’s a lighthouse in the darkness
Erected thru the ghostly fog;
Its light gushing thru the cracks,
Like golden spears thru silky cloth.
Lonely is the lighthouse
‘Midst the soaring sea,
Veiled In screaming silence
Of salt infested winds.
Sometimes ships pass it by;
A meeting far too brief,
And so deepens the loneliness
And the all-pervading grief.
Lonely is the lighthouse
Clinging to its light;
Embracing the inner Sun
To ward off the night.
But darkness listens,
And slyly does it whisper;
Thru every crack it slithers
Into the unsuspecting heart.
Heavens blacken;
The vestige of the lighthouse
Lingers in the fog.
