Tune: Morning Star
('Brightest and best of the sons of the morning')
********
Wise men they journeyed, followed the star of night
It would lead them unto glorious sight
Of the Christ-child, He the light of life e'er be
Revealed to wise men, and even to me
It shall too be our wisdom if we follow
Christ, and persevere Him more for to know
For the fear of the Lord is the beginning
Of true wisdom, we His praises may sing
Fear that is of godly awe and reverence
As the wise men came into His presence
So offering Him our lives in His service
Life and breath He gives to all, true is this
Their hopes fulfilled, wise men, the culmination
They saw Him, called Desire of each nation
Coming to earth to bring the world salvation
To high, low, rich, poor, whoever, each one
[The first verse is sometimes repeated at the end]
Wise men they journeyed, followed the star of night
It would lead them unto glorious sight
Of the Christ-child, He the light of life e'er be
Revealed to wise men, and even to me

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 11.10.11.10. format. The wise men did not worship the star - nor sun, moon, etc. Though they are thought to be astronomers, but not astrologers. So our worship is of a person, Christ, not stars or spooky stuff.

Great to read about that orchi! No, spooky-spooky. That's the good stuff.
Thanks CB.
your explanation is appreciated 🙂
Thanks Neville. They are called Magi by some folk (re: magic) which could make it seem spooky.
