Earth, Air, Fire

sorenbarrett

Earth fertility

Maternal virility

Good stability

Air is everywhere

Of its presence unaware

Without, no life there

A spark ignited

The land all charred and blighted

Nature united

  • Comment from author about the poem: In these symbols there is the formula for circular dependence, earth produces what is to be burned, without its production there can be no fire, air is required for combustion, fire produces ash that fertilizes the earth. It's combustion converts oxygen to carbon dioxide necessary for plant growth.

Thanks Soren. It has all the properties of a smooth running engine - which has now misfired.

      (funny wise Poet
how rarely we glean that connection
      between that perfect sunrise
and the matter, released in every fire
      'recycled, cyclicality'
      as the Universes undeniable, inevitability...)
      a great layering of questing
      and thought provoking, lines
      thank you!

I've read several books lately about the life cycles of ancient forests, and your poem states so very succinctly and eloquently the symbiosis that sustains that life. Trees have come to be my passion, and the more I learn about their hidden life the more I love them.

Thank you so much Bella, I too love trees. They are peaceful, don't talk back, have no political or religious opinions and you always know where to find them. Seriously, I have had bonsai trees that I love as much as any pet. One is 65 years old and always cheers me. There is much more to plants than we give them credit for. Thank you so much Bella for the read and welcome comments.
