Reaching

E Naughton

Reaching out to catch it,

Afraid to hope too much,

Looking back behind you,

You see nothing,

Darkened space,

Lost as only darkness can,

Staring,

The light ahead, full of promise,

Someday maybe,

Dim shadows surround,

Enough to see,

To see where you stand,

Look to your feet,

But where are you going?

Reaching out,

Tomorrows light too far,

Eyes closed,

Searching the attainable light,

One step,

Leaving bright rooms behind,

Bright lights without need of being caught,

Light at your back casting shadows so free.

such an intriguing read, thanks for sharing
    and inspiring my little scribble
    (sunrise's gift earth its shadows
seeking light, to unearth our worth
    vanquishing darkness, to excavate
    that which we know, feel
    awaits on us, to realise
    before
its all too late and our horizons
    can only be witnessed, dimmed
    by the life weary shades
    warping-bleak, our view of life..)
