Stargazy Pie
My first stories came from you.
Thank you for putting the pen in my hand.
And letting me know I can.
******
Her
She was born from starlight and sunsets
A tangled mess of daydreams, daisies and delight.
The path was paved for her
And she thought,
Yeah,
I’m going to like it here.
******
Youth
The feeling of being stuck in between,
Knowing everything and nothing.
Jumping to conclusions like gymnast
But everything's forgiven now.
******
The Forest Listens
The trees aren’t vacant.
They stand silent, but they hear everything.
Every laugh, every tear, every memory made on those green banks.
Leaves like fragments, ancient pieces of a puzzle.
One day I’ll go back
And listen to their stories.
Some of them are mine.

Platform 7
Some stories settle under your skin,
and fill up every crevice.
Others are fleeting, barely brushing your fingertips.
But every one makes up the montage that is you.
*******
Fall
Always a cacophony of colour
Under a blanket of crimson, auburn, maroon
That crisp breeze fills you
up until you can feel the magic.
Magic that only comes from this season.
Never boring, this is when you come alive.

Words I Need To Listen To
Don't live in the past.
Remember to take pictures.
Stop worrying about that silly thing you did, no one else will remember.
Don't tear down your music taste, Taylor Swift is still awesome.
Respond to that text.
Put an extra shot of syrup in your coffee.
Tell them you love them.
Stop waiting for tomorrow to happen.
******
True North
Home.
Hugs, handshakes, happy crying.
Opening Amazon packages, obvious smiles.
Music at 1 am, mochas, maccies.
Episodes of Stranger Things, eating way too much pizza.
Home.
*******
Present
New place, new page
Left the trees behind.
It's cold here, but it's a comforting kind of cold.
Turned the compass on its head.

An Inconclusive List of Important Things
The sound of crisp leaves under boots. Phone calls with my mum. Netflix Originals. Stuffed crust pizza. Fireworks against the backdrop of the night sky, spilling colour. Waking up to an extra five minutes in bed. Mochas in winter. The sound of rain. Rom-coms on a Sunday afternoon. Misty mornings. A night out with friends you love. Hugs. A standing ovation. The smell of candles on your birthday. Sugar donuts. The first day of summer. Long walks. Baking. Belting out songs you love when you're alone. Getting lost in a book. The feeling when someone gives you a present. Making someone smile. Karaoke. Cups of tea in the morning. Rainbows. Music festivals. When someone puts their arm around you. Pasta. The smell of home cooking. Christmas films. Salted caramel. Pumpkins in windows. When owners say you can pet their dogs. A starry night. Taking photos. Meeting with friends you haven't seen in a while. Random acts of kindness.
