Lest This Love Turn To Hate

Edthepoet

Should a time come
where the feeling of wonder
has left your loving gaze
and way out there yonder
is calling your name

that's okay..

should the day come
where the feeling of flying
got up n flew away
you catch yourself lying
to spare us more pain

that's okay
it's a cruel twist of fate
those we hold dear
are destined to drift away

should the night come
where you're feeling so lonely
those memories won't shake
you catch yourself wondering
bout those glory days

that's okay
it's a cruel twist of fate
those we hold dear
are destined to drift away

one last dance to our song dear
then I'll be on my way
but this I will say
always remember how we got here
lest this love turn to hate

(yeah, wish i had your wisdom
    and treasured those gifted days
    in the now
than admiring them in this rear-view mirror, of too late)
    so well written, and relatable
    thanks for sharing, dear Poet
