What If ...

ForeverJesus7

What if I did not have it all?

Would I still be where I am today?

... an important question,

to ask one's self,

when reevaluating one's faith.

What if I did not have a wife?

Would I feel lonely everyday?

What if I did not have a talent for poetry?

Would I be able to find the words I have to say?

What if I did not have a church to go to,

as so many Christians

around the world lack?

Would I want to push forward in Christ Jesus,

or would I only want to go back?

 Believe or not,

the answer is simple,

as serious as the question is,

because I keep my eyes upon Jesus,

and not upon His gifts.

IF and I say, 'IF',

Melissa Phillips Crown were to go,

to Heaven before me,

and I were to be without my wife,

Yes, I would be sad,

but I know that I would not be lonely,

because I would always have Jesus Christ.

If I could not write poetry,

and I did not have that gift,

I know that I would still have prayer,

and I could always talk to Him.

If I did not have a church to go to,

or could not watch it on T.V.,

I would always have Him in my heart,

and would just praise His name,

in the streets.

These are just a few examples,

but what IF I lost it all?

I may stumble sometimes,

but Jesus is always there to catch me,

and will not ever let me fall.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Of course this piece is hypothetical. We as Christians must remember that before God blessed us, and before he gave us gifts, we once came from nothing. Even as we grow in our walk with Jesus, we must always be careful to never get beside ourselves. We must always remain humble, and remember that we live through Him. - Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. - Hebrews 12:1-3 - NKJV
