Most Americans born here couldn't pass a naturalization test
And can recall the first eight presidents and Gettysburg Address at best
Yet somehow Feel superior to immigrants and and the unwelcomed rest
But wave the flag and pledge allegiance with jingoistic zest

Those ignorant Americans didn't emerge from their mothers' wombs any more cognizant of their nationality than any Somali, Italian, or Czech--I think many are lost in the zeitgeist, searching. That said, I've no doubt there are plenty of immigrants who could teach many of us a thing or two about both the bliss and the responsibility of liberty.
