Loss

Fred Smith

Loss is a shadow that lingers in the night

A feeling of emptiness, a piercing chill

It creeps upon you like a thief in flight

Stealing joy and leaving wounds that never heal

The memories we shared, now just a dream

Faded and distant, like an old love song

The laughter that once echoed like a stream

Now silent and still, like the sorrow that prolongs

But in the darkness, there is a glimmer of light

A hope that the pain will fade with time

That someday, the wounds will heal in sight

And the memories will be yours and mine

So we carry on, with a heavy heart

Embracing the loss, making a new start

For though love may leave, it remains

Etched in our hearts, a constant refrain.
