White Flag

Carter M. Flynn

The late hour help the words come

The frustration when sleep can't find me help the words come

The work and published words of others inspire my words to come

The angel who lie next to me help the words come

Late night thoughts and mid morning thoughts are two separate entities

Where is the block

When will it hit me

Is it inevitable

My pessimism screams yes

When will my brain begin to lag

Sooner or later

I'll wave the white flag.
