Waiting room

Norman Flagtea

The old man

is sitting

in Doctor Cohen's waiting room

and his thoughts

go wandering

out the door

down the stairs

out of the house

and to the intersection

then round the corner

and all the way to Paraguay

where he had been happy

This is delightful. A witty and imaginative piece, full of respect, bittersweet sentimentality, and deep humanity.

Thank you, Jeff. (That's your name, isn't it?)
I saw your comment only now and feel flattered that THE poet of these pages liked my work. I really like your poems (all of them!) and could easily have added to the many comments you have received...
The list of poets you like is quite an inspiration and invitation. Thank you for everything!

Yes, Jeff. Waiting Room is just perfect. It's a mini-tour de force, a short adventure, like a little Odyssey for the old man, off to the land of Oz, Never Never Land.
