Harsh Weather

gramann001

I stood naked in the rain asking it

to wash away my pain

I screamed at the thunder asking it

to tear my sorrow asunder

I faced the gale asking it to carry

my tears beyond the veil

I bore the lightning asking it for

any succor it could provide

I stood beaten by the hail asking it

for pity to no avail

I stood against the cold asking it

but no kindness was bestowed

I stood in the ice and sleet not

asking but telling no retreat

I stood alone with my despair and

harsh cruelty of the weather
