Dancing in the Street

Parisab

Are you ready for a new beat

since Adam just met the real Eve

Prisons were made for these two

since they’re dancing in the street

Sunshine from her hair, shines on

      across the nation

He came to love her and lets her lead him

as they’re dancing in the street

Heavens sing across the nations

as big men try to calm the tensions

He feels each time they kiss

as they’re giving life to the streets

The inside is outside

        the outside is inside

Keep shouting it out

‘cause they’re dancing in the streets

Their dreams come from near and far

we’re invited to witness it all

As Dr King heals their heart

If they keep dancing in the streets

  • Comment from author about the poem: Couple in Tehran receives 10 years of prison for defiantly dancing in the street and posting the video. I was listening to the Martha Reeves &the Vandellas singing “Dancing in the Street” when I wrote this.

Yes, those cruelly patrolled, sterile streets paved with fear and now blood and tears. It is unreal... thanks for not forgetting. He lets her lead him... beautiful and painful image. Women can be leaders to a better day.

Thank you for reading and noticing dear poet. Indeed I have not forgotten and neither have the hundreds and thousands of people protesting (and dancing) in the streets of the world against brutality in Iran.

I love reading this, many changes made, so much more needs to change. I'm a person that studies the Bible and without sounding preachy, there is going to be big changes made in the near future.
Thank you for sharing this excellent piece of art.

Beautiful read, Parisab. Loved it. Not in the same vein, but you may like my "A Memorial Day Trubute"

I have no known prejudices .. except maybe that of utter contempt for any form of injustice .. and I'm opposed to corruption too .. with my hand on my heart .. I am so glad that you wrote this but sorry you ever had to .. Neville

The pen is much more effective in this battle-thank you for being an empathic and alert citizen of this world, poet friend-
