Me Myself and I

Narcisa

I remember taking public transportation being part of chocolate city’s secret nation

I took greyhounds just to cross state borders

My shoes kept walking even when my legs gave out

I went to public libraries to print out resumes and prayed for better days

1,151 days ago from today I never dreamed of the possibility of everything I earned along the way

I remember not knowing where I was going to sleep when the night came creeping in

The demons were knocking on my door asking me let them in

I had to make promises to myself that I swore were meant to be broken just to keep on goin

I’m here and it feels good to be alive

I don’t owe anyone anything I kept my promises down to the very last one

My pockets My feet My mind and My spirit have been able to rest

I snoozed on my dreams out of fear I would lose it all

I was settling for naps and daydreams over REM sleep and manifestations

Now it’s my time to dream big with deep concentration

I did it once before and I’m gonna do it again

It was never meant to be easy it won’t be easy, but now I have better ammunition.

I’m on to my next mission I just needed a reload on ambition

Me myself and I

It feels good to be alive

Oh, my, a lovely penetrating soliloquy. Yes you earned every good thing that comes your way. Thanks for brightening my day... no my week... my life! OK, a bit of exaggeration, but this really moves me... many thanks!
