A Father’s Love

Martika Latay

A Father’s Love is like no other, even if he had a little studder. The sound of his voice, the way he walked, and that sneaky grin every time he talked. Will always be something that we remember within. Even with the up’s and downs you still stuck around. So, to watch you leave this earth with no more pain, warms our hearts, because guess what y’all, daddy made it through. He left us behind with a heartache no one can heal, but memories no one can steal.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem for my Father’s funeral and it means a lot to me. I have always enjoyed writing poems and no one cheered me on like my parents. God Rest Their Souls

This is touching on the anniversary of my father's death. We may not be your parents, but we can certainly cheer on your poetic efforts! Don't stop now. PS I may print this out and put in my refrigerator, just like your mom probably did.

PPS I love your last couplet:

... a heartache no one can heal, but memories no one can steal.
