Shark Beach

Perry

Not to return, she left her pail

upon the glistening sand.

Then ran into the mighty break,

with all its dazzling spray.

And hearing father's voice call out,

she hastened back for shore. But riptide

bound, she found herself pulled to the

coral edges, where sharks did

glide and taste their prey far from

her sun-drenched blanket. Then seabirds

dipping to the fray bore witness to

her summer's day.
