Cry in the Spotlight

LeeAnn

Why can’t you be soft?

Why can’t you be sensitive

The way you simply don’t care

I’m clinging to your sentences

You don’t wear a costume

You don’t wear a mask

You’re brutally honest every time I ask

You’re the brilliant boy from that drama class

I just keep letting you hurt me

Bringing you to hurt me

Inviting the pain

Can’t listen to my brain

You know I’m going to do it again

You’re so rough

You’re just so insensitive

You’re too honest

I can’t ignore your sentences

I’ll just keep my costume

And I’ll keep my mask

I’ll put them on so I’m okay every time you ask

You’re the deadpan boy from that drama class

  • Comment from author about the poem: Today I experienced raw pain and heartbreak, and these were my thoughts put down as quickly as possible. It’s a bit messy, but it’s perfect to me.
