Little Davy Blue Eyes.

David Wakeling

When Davy Candlemaker  was 4 years old ,
His Mother would bounce him on her knee,
She made up a song just for him.
“ Little Davy blue eyes, little angel boy,
Always filled with wonder, always filled with joy.
Take me to the garden, take me to the sky,
Watching clouds go by and watching birds up high.
Little Davy blue eyes, little angel boy,
Always filled with wonder, always filled with joy.”

Mrs Candlemaker would play games with him in the back garden.
His favourite was Hide and Go Seek.
He always hid behind the grape vine,
Even though he could easily be seen.
His Mother would always pretend to search,
“Now where oh where is my little Davy gone?”
After a while Davy would jump out from behind the vines,
His Mother would always act surprised.

One Sunny day in August Davy and his Mother were playing
in the backyard as usual and she noticed the back gate was open.
The yard was quite safe.It had a 6 foot brick fence all around.
The only opening was an iron gate in the corner.
Mrs Candlemalker became concerned, and sat little Davy
Down on the grass near the back gate.
“You can play anywhere you like in the garden.
You can play near the Orange tree. You can play near the Pear,
But you cannot go out the Garden gate.”
She was very insistent and Davy shock his head.
He had no desire to go out the garden gate until she said he couldn’t.

One day Mrs Candlemaker  was hanging out the clothes on the line.
Little Davy was wandering around the yard, chasing butterflies.
Suddenly the phone rang and Mrs Candlemaker told
Davy she would be back in a minute.
Davy played happily by himself and never went near the back gate.
When Mrs Candlemaker came back she had a pillow and a blacket.
She put little Davy down for an nap.

A man came to the back gate and looked nervous.
The back gate opened on to a grassy paddock.
The Young Man was Mrs Candlemakers Lover and she told him
that it was over. She really loved her husband and didn’t want to
see him again.
The boyfriend got angry and started a fight.
He bashed Mrs Candlemaker in the face and blood was coming out her nose.
She feel to the ground into the long grass.
The boyfriend saw the blood and panicked.
He ran through the long grass to get away.

Mrs Candlemaker called out for help and little Davy came to the abck gate.
He new he wasn’t supposed to go outside but he could here is mother crying.
He saw her mobile phone and took a deep breathe
marched through the back gate with the phone in his hand.

Mrs Candlemaker went to hospital and told
her husband that she wanted the gate to be sealed up forever.
She hugged little Davy and called him a hero.
she thanked him for saving her in every way.

Ouch, dripping with cliché's and emotional drivel. Painful read.
