Emanuel

Parisab

Emanuel, God is with us

God is with us, Emanuel

When mother’s closing her eyes

And when father is gazing from afar

And when sister tells you that, “She’s too old to care!”

And son’s happy to write with markers on boxes

Me and you hold our hands tighter Emanuel, before the cracked skin of the desert turns to dust

We close our eyes sitting under the same olive tree and watch forgiveness become greedy and justice feel shady…

Emanuel, Emanuel, I have a black hole inside my heart

I’m afraid to ask (Emanuel) but will you stay the night?
