I Wish I were a Fish!

Classicmister

I really fail to understand

Why I evolved to live on land

Evolution’s cruel intentions

Restrict me to just two dimensions

How on reflection I do wish

I had evolved to be a fish

For I could move both up and down

And never fear to sink and drown

What’s more it surely is a gift

To have the freedom to exist

In seventy percent versus

 Thirty of Earth’s land surface

So too I would never ever

Dread the ever-changing weather

What matter if it’s wind or rain

For my domain remains the same

Oh how happy I would be

To leave the land and join the sea

These are my passionate pretensions

To move around  in three dimensions

Might not be all that great to be a fish,
You could end up on someone's dish!
What a fun and clever poem you wrote.

Hello Jane - Many thanks for taking the trouble to comment. The poem was just a bit of fun and you will see that some of my stuff has a more serious side. This site seems to be getting more and more popular with poems posted every few minutes!
      Go well
