Some day

Norman Flagtea

Some day

you'll find a letter

in your mailbox

from Hershey/Pennsylvania or Fairbanks.

"Do you still

like the colour blue?

Are your parents still alive?

Remember my sister Becky?

She moved to Hawaii.

Never once came back."

And on like that.

This is unfinished and frankly has no meaning. The reader is completely ignored

That being so, in that case,
Why carry on - a waste of space.

I meant this poem to have an open ending. Obviously the writer of the letter (male? female?) knew the recipient well many years ago. How does he/she feel about it? Does he/she like to be reminded of the past? Is he/ she glad about the letter? Will he/ she answer, even try to meet again? How would you feel? How would you react?
