The Suffolk Coast

Norman Flagtea

What remains

is the click, click, click

of the pebbles

in the shallow waters

of the beach,

the windy highstreet

with a library,

a fish and chips place

and two charity shops,

a music festival

in the next village

(but not until October)

and marshes

with one or two lonely egrets.

I love write's like this, thanks for sharing
    (a sombre ode
    to our beloved blighty's
    dispiritingly, deserted
    coastlines:
    'What remains
    is the click, click, click
    of the pebbles
    in the shallow waters')
