Lost and Found

Delilah

Messy love spills out of me

Unkept, hot, and achingly whole

Unfurled love letters in the freezing cold

Touching damp and earthy parts of the soul

Spinning threads of warm honey glow

Tangling into marks and kisses

Left in the shiny cracks of tear stains

I have devoted my life to loving

The darkest and most hidden bits

The secrets that live so easily in collarbones

And bruises and vacation homes

That defy age and gravity and the look on your mother’s face when you were ten

Flying too close to that scalding hot pan

That would burn deep inside of you for years

Craving the relief only a mystic could give

In the sweet alchemy of longing and sickness

That doesn’t just change you but transforms you entirely

And kills the years of waiting and losing and being so unfound

  • Comment from author about the poem: I would love some feedback and constructive criticism on this poem :) I usually just let words and imagery pour out of me, but would love some advice on how to structure it better + any advice at all. Thank you to anyone that reads
