Minutes

gamerfairy

We parted ways some time ago

We said goodbye and never said hello again

We left our past behind in the wake of passing time

The ice cream cones and coffee stains

The late night walks to places we had never seen

And hopes for people we wanted to be

All left between us now are figments of our dreams

But I will treasure and cherish these memories

I will wonder what could have been and what we should be

And it will hurt when I see you walk by with someone else at your side

But I will not remember you and cry

I will remember you and smile

I will remember the gift of time we had

The minutes I hold most dear

I will not weep for seconds or hours we cannot have

Or tales we cannot share

For it is better to have known you for minutes

Then to pretend you were never there

A very balanced view of a past relationship not often (or ever ) found on this site, which typically in this genre are full of recriminations, wailing...and so on.

Enjoy your stay at MPS. I very much hope you will read and comment on other's work as well as to commentary on your own. Will be interesting....
