Now I lay me down to sleep
Is there a promise I should keep
Or dream in heavenly, restful cheer
Devoid of earthly troubles here
The blood that pumps and fills my veins
An ocean of warmth this life sustains
Does my childhood hope still breathe
Where are we heading, what does this mean
I’ve given and taken so many years
With laughter, hope, with joy and tears
The tree I planted to give us shade
Watches, caring as we traverse the day
The sun rises and shines…
Yet feels nothing, knows nothing
The rain comes, the rain goes…
And the earth does not remember us
All we can imagine, has been done before
Nothing new or untold on our waking shores
So just give me your heart and the touch of your hand
And together we will love, share life and we will stand
