Growing Up

striving

No matter what happens in my life today,

it will not make me act in a childish way.

There have been many moments back in time,

when I acted in a way that was less than kind.

You see, I’m not the best when making decisions that matter,

I’m not the type to carry around a daily planner.

Much of my life, I didn’t know what would happen day to day,

On the outside I acted brave, but in reality I was very afraid.

I would wear this mask to cover my real face,

Until one day, God said,”Put that down and instead take my Grace”.

He said,”You don’t believe but my Mercy is with thee”,

Just remember, you are now part of my Family.

I warned Him and said,”You already know I will fall short”,

He replied,”I am All Knowing and no one has passed that part”.

“Just do what you can, I will understand,

Don’t rely on yourself, I have the Master Plan”.

You are My Son and I am your Father,

Those that offend you, turn a cheek, don’t even bother.

You have no time and pay them no mind,

I come to your doorstep because you are one of a kind.

I made you with your own unique skills and gifts,

Now I command you to walk in Faith and be a Witness.

Tell those who will listen that I am Real,

I cannot be found in the dark, I stand on top of the Hill!

Very good piece, it's great that you found the Lord and when you fully surrender to God your life will completely change, it won't be easy by no means but absolutely worth it,

I can definitely relate to not having things planned out and taking one day at a time, my whole life of 40 years I've worn a mask to cover who I really am until recently

Hey. Thank you for the positive feedback. I think many of us do wear a mask. It is partially because we have so many expectations placed on us by the world and we would rather conform rather than be ourselves. I am finished with trying to please people. I am ready to be myself 😇

        Exactly
