Silicone

like all protective equipment I use

instead of my breath

I focus on my heartbeat

what a change of pace

everything I do can be with love

how powerful is symbolism

even when it means nothing to me

  • Comment from author about the poem: It’s a sapphire silicone ring, sapphire because of my wife’s birth stone. I wanted to wear it (after going 4 years without any type of symbolism) as a reminder of our love and to showcase of course that I’m married, I don’t want anyone to be surprised anymore.

"How powerful is symbolism when it means nothing to me" what a beautiful line, that is hauntingly true. Very well written. Also congratulations on marriage !
