Stranger Empathy

Noveyre

color in this, color in that,
another day, another lap,
I'd like to see it change
landscape blend as I drive my way

Would wanna watch it go from gray, black, white
kaleidoscope window panes
glowing with the passing of those streetlights
standing tall, crowns of orange, driving down those lanes

I wouldn't mind
finding my peace of mind
having the time
having all the time of day
to think about
the things that pass
hold 'em tight within my grasp
so when I let 'em go
I remember what it felt like

It felt like-
good dreams, sweet nights
the chest is warm and the smile is real
I feel like
it was good

Do you know what I'm trying to say?

one way street, suburbs incomplete
in my memory, all the places I haven't been
blurring in my vision
it's a recognition
I feel but wouldn't know it

Tell me you've felt the same way,
wondering of the lives of the strangers here
it's not my place
but I feel like I know them

color in this, color in that
where I've been is a faraway land
I wanna watch it blend in
blend in my mind as I drive my way

Really interesting wordplay. I know it's personal, but also abstract - almost visually abstract. Definitely left an impression...
