A love lost

Aya Kadid

I’m no longer the owner of the blood within my veins,

it belongs to all the memories and the love that remains

running within my system, rushing towards my brain,

flooding it with recollections of your sweet talk

and the words I’ve been called,

Beautiful,

Caring,

Supportive,

Understanding,

A miracle,

Out of this world.

What have I done wrong to deserve losing the voice that once said these words to me?

The imagery of the memories and love running through your veins was so powerful, and I could feel the weight of the loss you were experiencing. The repetition of the words you were called - beautiful, caring, supportive, understanding, a miracle, out of this world - was really effective in conveying the depth of your connection with the person who said them. The final question of what you've done wrong was so poignant and really made me feel the sense of confusion and hurt you must be experiencing. Your writing is so heartfelt and emotional, and I appreciate you sharing this piece with us.

I'm glad I could convey the depth of my feelings to you through my poetry, I'm exactly feeling what you said, I'm confused and I'm hurt, it's a weight I can't bear; the weight of losing the one person I loved so dearly and to no limit.

Thank your for taking the time to read my poem, it means a lot to me
