Idle Thumbs

E Naughton

Lost in numb depths of nothing

Lost in light as opposed to the never ending story of darkness

Like a squirrel ready for the frosty days ahead

But far too soon

Lost in light leading to inevitable darkness

Light brought by early nuts gathered by the lucky few

Freeing from rats racing

Perched high on piles

While darkness fills  idle minds
