It doesn't hurt to be lucky

hzugman

On the wheel of fortune of life

I've had more than my share of winners

And luckily a dearth of pain and strife

Lotsa love and some unforgettable dinners

You can be so subtle! Making love and dinners parallel puts love in perspective, makes it a little less abstract. And equating it (indirectly) with dinners reminds us how miraculous even small pleasures and a little social company make life rich.

Thank you J54. To be honest, I was so subtle on this poem that I didn't even catch the comparison myself. My poems just sorta flow without my trying to sus out what they mean.

That's a fine way to do it! I am so the opposite. Nothing is ever good enough! I like your style!
