The Venomous Deceit

SIMEON A. OYEKANMI

The Venomous Deceit
Amidst the sands of time, a serpent lurks,
Coiled and ready to strike, its venom works,
A symbol of deceit, it slithers low,
And leaves a trail of ruin as it goes.
With fangs like razors, and eyes like fire,
It seeks to devour, and never tire,
A predator of the darkest kind,
Leaving destruction, and chaos behind.
Its victims are many, and none are spared,
The young and old, the rich and the impaired,
It knows no mercy, nor does it care,
For all who cross its path, a deadly snare.
Its poison is potent, and spreads like a plague,
It seeps into the soul, and makes it vague,
A shadow of its former self, it becomes,
And all that's left is emptiness and glum.
The serpent's scales, a glistening sheen,
Are like the illusions that we've seen,
A mirage of hope, a fleeting dream,
That leaves us lost, and torn at the seams.
But there is hope, amidst the gloom,
A light that shines, and breaks the tomb,
A Saviour who can heal our wounds,
And bring us back to life, renewed.
His name is love, and his touch is grace,
He wipes away our tears, and takes our place,
He is the way, the truth, the life,
And through him, we can conquer strife.
Let's not be deceived by the serpent's lies,
But fix our eyes on the one who dies,
To save us from eternal doom,
And bring us to his heavenly room.
For in his arms, we find true rest,
And in his love, we are forever blessed,
No serpent can ever harm us again,
For we are his, and he is our friend.
