I am scared to fall

Fall for your truthful eyes, for your perfect smile, for your “I don’t want to go goodbye”

I am scared to fall

Fall for your soft fingertips on my skin, your brown eyes focused on my lips and your oh so sweet kiss

I am scared to fall

Scared of the heartbreak, heartache and everything about it

But that fear shows love and love is hard to find

So please, be kind

Be kind to my heart and be kind to your own

Keep in mind all the things we’ve gotten to know

Hold my heart with grace and don’t let go

And maybe just maybe, I will learn to not be scared of the feelings slowly starting to show

Comment from author about the poem: I got my heart broken for the first time and now, 6 months later, I am starting to develop feelings for someone new. This is scary since I don't want to be betrayed or feel this kind of hurt again. The poem is about how scary it is to fall for someone new but also shows some hope of how much joy it can bring.
