Wrecked relationSHIPs

Debake

I am not the sand warm beneath my feet
I'm not the waves crashing between you and me
I'm not the sailor charming yet discreet
I'm the wreck of this ship beneath the sea

crashed and burned some have said
but rather froze and sunk, low, low
fantasies of mermaid and goddess cred
long gone, for a murder a flock of crow

our captain abandoned the ship early on
disloyal, unfaithful, dishonored, I mean, c'mon
took the lifeboat and left it all behind
left the sailor high and dry, and rescind

I am not the sand warm beneath the bloodshed and tears I cry
I am not the waves crashing between the wreck, you, and I
I am the lost sailor abandoned and laid ashore to drown
I jumped ship and took the lifeboat before the ship went down

  • Comment from author about the poem: Not sure where this one came from, I just got to thinking about my shared desire with someone, but it has been kept back because of age and religion. Then I thought about what it would be like for my friends and family members and their perspective if I acted on my feelings and what the consequences would be I have tried to suppress or deny my feelings, but they persist, and I guess I write poetry to express my hidden emotions in a unique, strange, hard-to-interpret fashion.
