A crime against love

Aya Kadid

It is in our nature to forget with time,

But to forget about you is to commit a crime,

A crime against the love we once shared.

I hate the idea that a day might come where I forget about you.

I don’t want to forget how it felt to be held by you,

Or how it sounded like when you’d tell me “I love you”.

I don’t want to forget how safe I felt between your arms,

Or how when you’d look at me, your eyes light up like two bright stars.

I don’t want to forget our laughs and inside jokes,

Our cries and the gentle hair strokes.

My love,

With every time my soul cries,

With every cell that within me dies,

With every weakened heartbeat

With every time I feel incomplete

With every knot in my throat I feel

And with all the weakness I try to conceal

I’ll hold on to your memory because I’m afraid I’ll lose you to time

I’m afraid I’ll commit a crime.

When the poem's spell invites us to stand a witness in infatuation court .. We will say the truth
All are condemned :.the orphan love, that depleting longing and that silent pain which refused to leave ..
