newport

agocl

tide is receding, feet pounding on the rocky beach

smelling of seawater and saltwater taffy

stuck in my teeth, feet stuck in the sand...

rocky road ice cream and cobblestone walkways,

mansions perched atop the oceanside cliffs,

ships with wedding-veil sails lined at the port.

i’ll build a castle for me and you

and sometime soon, we’ll plant ourselves

on the jetty, and watch the sun rise again.
