Floorboards (Poetic Lyrics)

Mark Catalano

v1

Comin out from under,

Somethin, or other

Safe, warm, or smothered

I lost my way

v2

Lookin up through floorboards

Rentin’ space like landlords

Holdin’ out for re-wards

What? I can’t say

Chorus:

There’s a light that’s shining in

That paints my face

And people walkin by

But they don’t know

Underneath their feet

Hides a sinner

Gatherin’ up their crumbs that fall like snow

v3

Met you on the sideline

Head full of cheap wine

Life stuck on rewind

Is there, any other way

v4

Always on some rebound

A new queen to be crowned

Chasin love that breaks me down

Wishin you would stay

Coda:

Thought you were looking for

Your shining knight

To come sweep you off your feet and make you whole

But I’ll never be the one to fix your heart

I keep using yours to try and fix my own

Chorus:

There’s a light that’s shining in

That paints my face

And people walkin by

But they don’t know

Underneath their feet

Hides a sinner

Gatherin’ up their crumbs that fall like snow

Dear Mark! This is a very moving poem. I like the light that's shining in and painting your face.
