Everything reminds me of you

Aya Kadid

It’s been few weeks since you left. I decide to go on a walk to clear my mind and set the thought of you aside, but it’s funny how I thought I could do that when everywhere I go and everywhere I look, I see you, when everything I see and everything I hear, reminds me of you.

But I keep walking.

I see the clouds getting in the way of the sun, I see the trees dancing with the wind, I see the birds flying together, Isee stray cats and dogs chasing each other, I see people riding cars and others taking the bus, I see people walking and others running, I see the kids playing and skipping.

I keep walking.

I see an old man selling rings on the side of the road, so I step closer and the first ring I spot is just like the one I once gave you, and here I am remembering you again. Without thinking about it, I get the ring and I wear it, and without fail, I’m crying all over again

Everything will always remind me of you. I can’t help but clear my mind of everything but you, I can set all thoughts aside except the thought of you.
