Something About Twenty Years Later...

ForeverJesus7

I have been seeing many articles lately. They are talking about twenty years after the invasion of Iraq. Many people are questioning our reasoning for going over there. Other veterans are saying how they still don't understand why they invaded. This is my opinion on that. ... and I understand many may disagree with my opinion, but so what.

I feel that instead of looking at the bad, we should tell our soldiers a what a good job they have done. I even read an article that said many people think that George Bush should be charged for lying to the people about why we went in. I hope that that is not becoming a trend. When the president makes a decision that we don't agree with, we try to arrest him.

As for many of the soldiers who fought in the war; I get it. You don't understand it. It is hard to understand any war after fighting it for so long. Still, we won. So we did not find WMD's... We got rid of a ruthless dictator. We kept the fight from coming to the states. We represented what America is about. Instead of beating yourselves up about it, you should be somewhat proud of what you did.

I want to be clear. I did not serve in the military. ... but before you start yelling at me, and thinking that I'm some horrible guy; I want to say that it does not take a soldier to see the good that we have done over there. Whether we had a real reason to go over there or not, we were there, and while we were there, we accomplished a lot. Personally, I think that the last years spent in Afghanistan painted a very negative picture of everything else that happened in that time frame, and what all we are doing in other parts of the Middle East.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is just my opinion. I understand that this is a very touchy subject. So please, leave whatever comments that you like. Just keep them professional. I know that this is not my usual type of writing, but I keep seeing these article about what we did twenty years ago, and I disagree with them. As an American, I truly believe in what we did over in Iraq. Persistence is key
