Scars

Mashleyyy

Just like the moon I carry beauty of light,

Underneath the surface some scars I hold tight.

They call me monster and make me feel so rare

With paper-white teeth and perfect bodies

Wish I didn't care.

I know their beauty is not my lack

But then why that weight is on my back?

My tears are the only thing I can't abide

Reminders of hurt that cannot be denied.

I smile through gritted teeth at the days of pain

Though in my heart i wish I could disappear

The world may laugh and watch with glee,

By all the others who watch me but can't see.

I know I'm hurt, broken and not quite whole

But now

I know I'm a survivor so surviving is my only goal.
