Why does blood spill
From childhood books
Rulers to measure bodies
Dead on the school room floor
Murals overhead singing
Kumbaya- holding hands
Red apples mashed under skid
Marks milk spilled on the walls
The music rooms rings
Heavens bells echo the halls
The art room hides the
Hidden souls of the children
The pièce de ré·sis·tance
Sitting on the principal's desk
Foreshadowing the threat
Transpiring in crayon colors
Telling a thousand words
Of the screams- a thousand more
WHY DOES THE BLOOD
SPILL FROM CHILDREN'S BOOKS.
