The Way It’s Meant to Be

Accidental Poet

She’s so beautiful

My soul smiles in ecstasy 

I’m in awe every time 

Like she was standing next to me

 

You’d think by now

After  fifty-five years

I’d have moved on long ago

But she’s got me in high gear

 

No turning back now

You might say I’m on a roll

Got a good thing goin’

And by God I’ll pay that toll

 

Ain’t nothin’ worth doin’

If you don’t give it your all

I’m all in win or lose

Either way, I’ll still stand tall

 

And I’ll go to my grave

Proud as can be

Sharon’s name upon my heart

The way it’s meant to be
